I'm sorry this issue has caused so much frustration! Sports broadcasts are all about which network has distribution rights for each particular game. In the case of conflicts like the one you mentioned, Cox must air the game per our contract with each team/network.
Based on the University of Kansas Men's Basketball schedule at http://www2.kusports.com/schedules/mens-basketball/2015-16/kansas/, it appears that ESPN has broadcast rights for a great many of the remaining games this season. You should be able to watch the games on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU.
